- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp peppermint extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips (for frosting)
- 1 cup heavy cream (for frosting)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

- In a large bowl, blend the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy and light in color (3-5 minutes).
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Scoop rounded blobs of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes until set at the edges but still soft in the center.
- Allow cookies to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, melt chocolate chips with heavy cream until smooth. Dip cooled cookies and sprinkle with crushed candy canes while the frosting is still wet.
Notes
Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can improve texture.
