Description

Delightful pumpkin scones drizzled with a sweet maple glaze, perfect for fall mornings or afternoon snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup for glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, spices, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the pumpkin puree and brown sugar until just combined.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and mix gently until a dough forms.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle, and cut into shapes.
  7. Place the scones on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Combine the powdered sugar and maple syrup to make the glaze, then drizzle over the cooled scones.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Keep butter cold for a flakier texture and avoid overworking the dough.
