  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (chopped coarsely)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped jalapeños (seeds removed)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • Fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and butter. Mix until resembling coarse crumbs. Add cold water gradually until dough forms a ball. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out circles and press them into a muffin tin.
  4. Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine cranberries, jalapeños, cream cheese, sugar, and eggs. Stir until well combined.
  5. Fill the crusts with the cranberry-jalapeño filling to about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until filling is set and crust is golden brown.
  7. Cool for a few minutes, then remove from the tin and serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with herbs.

Notes

Chill the dough to prevent shrinkage during baking. Adjust jalapeño quantity based on desired heat level.
