Description
A warm, comforting dessert that combines tender sautéed apples and a rich salted caramel drizzle, perfect for autumn gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups fresh apples, diced (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Get all your ingredients prepped and ready on the counter.
- Preheat Your Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Your Sheet Pan: Grease a 9×13 inch sheet pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Make the Batter: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugars together until light and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with applesauce if you’re using it. Fold in the diced apples gently.
- Bake: Pour the batter into your prepared sheet pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
- Prepare Salted Caramel: While the cake bakes, melt brown sugar and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat, swirling gently. Once thick and bubbly, add a pinch of salt.
- Cool and Drizzle: Once the cake has cooled, drizzle the salted caramel over the top.
