Description
A decadent Salted Caramel Cake with fluffy vanilla layers and rich, glossy caramel that balances sweet and salty flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup unsalted butter (for caramel)
- 1 tsp sea salt (for caramel)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Mix in the milk until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder, then gradually add to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Divide the batter between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool the cakes in the pans before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the caramel, heat granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring until it melts and turns amber.
- Add unsalted butter and stir until combined, then slowly pour in heavy cream and stir until fully mixed.
- Stir in sea salt and let cool to room temperature.
- Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a plate, spreading salted caramel on top, adding the second layer, and drizzling more caramel over the cake.
Notes
Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Be patient while making the caramel to avoid burning.
