Ingredients

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mushrooms (button, cremini, or portobello), chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the mushrooms until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, around 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and shredded cheese. Mix until smooth.
  5. Stir in the sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and chopped basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Optionally, top with additional cheese.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly and golden brown on top.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving with crostini or your preferred dipping options.

Notes

You can use Greek yogurt as a lighter substitute for cream cheese. Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature to avoid lumps.
