Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Savory Panettone, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 lb Italian Sausage, crumbled
  • 1 cup Baby Bella or Cremini mushrooms, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme or sage, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 apple or pear, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread panettone cubes on a baking sheet and toast for 10 minutes until golden.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and cook the crumbled sausage until golden.
  4. Add diced onions, garlic, and mushrooms to the skillet; sauté until softened.
  5. Stir in fresh herbs and season with salt and pepper. Add broth until moistened.
  6. In a large bowl, combine toasted panettone and sausage mixture; fold in any optional ingredients.
  7. Transfer to a buttered casserole dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.

Notes
