- 1 loaf Savory Panettone, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 lb Italian Sausage, crumbled
- 1 cup Baby Bella or Cremini mushrooms, diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme or sage, chopped
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 apple or pear, finely chopped (optional)
- 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread panettone cubes on a baking sheet and toast for 10 minutes until golden.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and cook the crumbled sausage until golden.
- Add diced onions, garlic, and mushrooms to the skillet; sauté until softened.
- Stir in fresh herbs and season with salt and pepper. Add broth until moistened.
- In a large bowl, combine toasted panettone and sausage mixture; fold in any optional ingredients.
- Transfer to a buttered casserole dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
Notes
Taste and adjust seasonings as you go. For a crispy top, broil for the last few minutes of baking.
