Description

Delightful sugar cookies that are soft, buttery, and perfect for decorating with icing and sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy—about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Mix in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  7. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on a wire rack and decorate once cooled.

Notes

Avoid overbaking; edges should be golden while centers are soft. Chill dough to prevent spreading during baking.
