- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 8 ounces egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil, salt it generously, and cook the egg noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, cook the diced onions over medium heat until translucent, then add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces, and drain excess fat if necessary.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, sautéed beef and onions, sour cream, and half of the cheese (if using).
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Top with remaining cheese (if using), and cover with foil.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes to allow the top to become golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken. You can also add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
