Description

A classic dessert that combines sweet blueberries with a rich, buttery crust, perfect for family gatherings and summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus 1 tablespoon for coating blueberries
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk (whole or buttermilk)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and a hint of lemon juice. Stir gently and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the remaining flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Combine melted butter with the milk, then pour into dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  4. Pour the blueberry mixture into a greased baking dish and dollop the cobbler topping over the fruit.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Cool for a few minutes before serving, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Add a sprinkle of coarse sugar on top before baking for a crunchy glaze. Avoid overmixing the topping for a fluffy texture.
