A luscious Strawberry Chocolate Mousse Cake that harmonizes rich chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries, perfect for celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces dark or semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- Fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the sugar and unsalted butter until fluffy. Add the beaten eggs and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
- Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour and cocoa powder until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool it in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Melt the finely chopped chocolate in a double boiler until smooth. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until fully combined.
- Slice fresh strawberries and sprinkle with a bit of sugar to enhance their sweetness.
- Once the cake is cool, layer the mousse over the top, garnishing with sliced strawberries.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
