- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: fresh basil or mint for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until it’s about 1/4 inch thick, then cut it into squares or rectangles.
- On half of each pastry square, spoon a small mound of sliced strawberries, sprinkle with sugar and vanilla.
- Gently fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
- Brush the tops with the egg wash to achieve a flaky, golden crust.
- Place the pastries on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
For extra flavor, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Ensure to drain excess liquid from thawed strawberries.
