Description
A cherished family recipe for incredibly cheesy and crispy garlic toast, perfect for gatherings or as a comforting snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 crusty artisanal loaf or thick slices of sourdough bread
- 4–5 cloves of fresh garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh herbs (parsley or basil), chopped
- Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, then add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Slice the bread into 1-inch thick pieces and place them on a baking sheet.
- Brush both sides of each bread slice generously with the garlic butter mixture.
- Top each slice with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are crispy.
- Sprinkle with fresh herbs and a pinch of salt before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or cooked bacon bits on top of the cheese before baking. Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure crispiness.
