Delightful and festive Swirled Christmas Cookies filled with buttery goodness and vibrant colors that evoke the spirit of the holidays.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
- Red and green food coloring
- Confectioners’ sugar for decoration
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla and almond extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide the dough and color one part red and another part green with food coloring.
- Roll each color into logs, layer one on top of the other, and roll them together to create a swirl effect.
- Wrap in parchment paper and refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the dough into ¼-inch rounds and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool completely and optionally sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
Notes
Using coconut oil instead of butter makes for a dairy-free option. Can also use gluten-free flour blend.
