Description

A unique Thanksgiving dessert that combines a pumpkin pie nestled in a rich chocolate cake, draped in luscious vanilla frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pumpkin Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, spices, and pumpkin puree. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour into a pie crust and bake until set.
  2. Make the Chocolate Cake Batter: In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar, then mix in eggs and vanilla extract. Add cocoa powder, flour, and heavy cream, blending until smooth.
  3. Layering Up: Once your pumpkin pie cools, place it in the center of the cake batter. Pour more batter on top to encase the pie. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cooling and Frosting: Allow the Piecaken to cool completely. Whip heavy cream and sugar until soft peaks form, then frost the top and sides of the cake.
  5. Slice and Serve: Slice into this creation and serve with whipped cream or cinnamon.

Notes

Allow the Piecaken to cool completely before slicing to maintain its layers.
