A delightful Traditional Canadian Bannock Bread, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for gatherings and family meals.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter or oil
- 3/4 cup water or milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine.
- Add butter (or oil) into the dry mix and work it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually pour in water or milk, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 30 seconds.
- Shape the dough into a round or rectangle about 1 inch thick, place on a baking sheet, and score the top lightly.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown; let cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For extra flavor, brush the top with melted garlic butter halfway through baking.
