Description
A delightful Almond Crusted Fish Piccata pairs crunchy almonds with tender white fish, bright lemon, and savory garlic for a comforting yet sophisticated meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pieces of firm white fish (like cod, tilapia, or sole)
- 1 cup raw, unsalted almonds
- 2 tablespoons capers
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon, juiced and zested
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pat the fish dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
- Pulse or crush the almonds until they become coarse crumbs.
- Dust the fish with flour, then dip it in beaten egg, and press the almond crumbs onto both sides of the fish.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté the fish for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
- Remove fish from the skillet and add garlic and capers, cooking for 1 minute before deglazing with lemon juice.
- Add fish back to skillet to soak in the sauce or serve immediately with the sauce drizzled over the top and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
Ensure your skillet is hot before adding the fish to achieve a crispy texture. Avoid overcrowding the pan for even cooking. Consider using the oven for a crispier finish if desired.
