Description

A comforting and warming apple cinnamon oatmeal perfect for chilly mornings, filled with sweet apples and aromatic spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or milk
  • 1 large apple, chopped (Fuji or Honeycrisp preferred)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 12 tablespoons sweetener (maple syrup, honey, or brown sugar)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: nuts, raisins, almond butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and chop your apples into bite-sized pieces, leaving the skins on.
  2. Cook the Oats: In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of water or milk to a boil. Add 1 cup of rolled oats and a pinch of salt.
  3. Simmer: Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the oats soften and absorb the liquid.
  4. Add Apples and Cinnamon: Fold in the chopped apples, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, and your sweeteners. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the apples are tender.
  5. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat. If the mixture feels too thick, add a splash more milk to achieve your desired consistency. Serve warm with a sprinkle of nuts or a drizzle of honey if desired.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness and apple quantity based on your taste. Can be made dairy-free using nut milk.
