Description
Delicious Brussels sprouts sautéed with crispy bacon, creating a savory, umami-rich dish that’s perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 6 strips thick-cut bacon, chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil (optional)
- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- Sea salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme), for garnish
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Brussels sprouts: Trim the ends and remove any outer leaves that look bruised. Slice large sprouts in half.
- Cook the bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon but leave the rendered fat in the pan.
- Sauté the sprouts: Add olive oil if needed, toss in the Brussels sprouts cut side down. Let sit for about 3-4 minutes to achieve a brown color. Stir occasionally until tender-crisp, about 6-8 minutes.
- Add garlic and seasoning: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Bring it together: Crumble the crispy bacon back into the pan, add salt, pepper, and herbs. Optionally, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving dish, tossing lightly to combine. Enjoy warm!
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure sprouts caramelize instead of steaming. Adjust seasonings to taste.
