Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (or coconut oil for vegan)
  • 3 large eggs (or flax eggs/applesauce for vegan)
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp chai spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pan(s).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time and add vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Stir in the chai spices and taste the batter for seasoning.
  7. Pour the batter into prepared pan(s) and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
