Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional: zest of orange or lemon, 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat the unsalted butter and sugar together in a large bowl until it’s pale and fluffy.
- Gradually sift in the all-purpose flour and cornstarch, mixing gently to combine.
- Add any optional flavorings like vanilla extract or citrus zest.
- Remove the dough from the bowl and shape it into a disc. Wrap in plastic and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thickness and cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges start to turn golden.
- Allow cooling completely before dusting with powdered sugar or decorating.
Notes
Use room temperature butter for best results and avoid over-mixing to keep cookies tender.
