Description
A delightful blend of tart cranberries and sweet oranges, this jam is perfect for breakfast or holiday gatherings, evoking warm memories of family traditions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh cranberries
- 2 large navel oranges, zested and juiced
- 3 cups granulated sugar (or brown sugar for deeper flavor)
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Rinse the cranberries and remove any stems or squished berries. Zest and juice the oranges, setting aside both the zest and juice.
- Cook the cranberries and oranges: In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, orange juice, orange zest, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Sweeten the mix: Once boiling, reduce the heat and add in the sugar, stirring until dissolved. Mash some cranberries for a chunkier texture if desired.
- Simmer away: Let the jam simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it coats the back of a spoon.
- Jar it up: Pour the jam into sterilized jars while hot. Seal and let them cool at room temperature.
- Enjoy: Wait at least a day for flavors to meld before enjoying on toast, scones, or as a glaze.
Notes
For a smoother consistency, use an immersion blender before jarring. Experiment with spices like cinnamon for added flavor.
