Ingredients
- Tortellini (fresh or frozen, cheese or meat-filled)
- Steak (flank or sirloin, cut into bite-sized pieces)
- Butter (unsalted)
- Garlic (fresh minced)
- Mushrooms (baby bella or cremini)
- Heavy cream
- Fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or chives)
Instructions
- Cook the tortellini: Boil salted water, add tortellini, and cook until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water, drain, and set aside.
- Sear the steak: In a skillet, melt butter, add steak pieces, season, and sear for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove and keep warm.
- Sauté the mushrooms and garlic: In the same skillet, add butter, sauté mushrooms until browned, then add garlic for a minute.
- Create the creamy sauce: Lower heat, add heavy cream, simmer for 3 minutes until thickened. Thin with reserved pasta water if necessary.
- Combine everything: Toss in tortellini and steak, mix gently with sauce and herbs, adjust seasoning.
- Serve: Plate and garnish with herbs or Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add crushed red pepper flakes or lemon zest.
