Ingredients

  • Steak (flank or sirloin, cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • Butter (unsalted)
  • Garlic (fresh minced)
  • Mushrooms (baby bella or cremini)
  • Heavy cream
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or chives)

Instructions

  1. Cook the tortellini: Boil salted water, add tortellini, and cook until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water, drain, and set aside.
  2. Sear the steak: In a skillet, melt butter, add steak pieces, season, and sear for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove and keep warm.
  3. Sauté the mushrooms and garlic: In the same skillet, add butter, sauté mushrooms until browned, then add garlic for a minute.
  4. Create the creamy sauce: Lower heat, add heavy cream, simmer for 3 minutes until thickened. Thin with reserved pasta water if necessary.
  5. Combine everything: Toss in tortellini and steak, mix gently with sauce and herbs, adjust seasoning.
  6. Serve: Plate and garnish with herbs or Parmesan cheese if desired.
