Description
A tender, juicy chicken dish coated in a mouthwatering buttery sauce, perfect for a special celebration.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless chicken breasts or thighs
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces cremini or shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 cup white wine or chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 lemon, zest and juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Start by chopping garlic and slicing the mushrooms.
- Sauté garlic and mushrooms: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the mushrooms, sautéing until golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season the chicken: Pat chicken pieces dry and season with salt and pepper. Add them to the skillet, browning on all sides for about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour in wine or broth: Deglaze the pan with your chosen liquid, scraping up the tasty brown bits. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
- Stir in cream and herbs: Add heavy cream and herbs, letting the mixture simmer until slightly thickened, around 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Finishing touches: Add lemon juice and zest right before serving.
Notes
This dish pairs wonderfully with a crusty baguette or simple pasta to soak up the sauce.
