Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm milk (about 110°F), sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Incorporate wet ingredients: Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the melted butter, the activated yeast mixture, and the egg. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If it’s too sticky, sprinkle in a little more flour as needed.
- Let the dough rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, which usually takes about 1 hour.
- Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Second rise: Cover the rolls again and allow them to rise until they puff up, about 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Finish with butter: Brush them with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven for added flavor.
