Description

Savory and comforting French Dip Squares filled with tender beef and wrapped in flaky pastry, served with a rich dipping sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flank steak or roast beef
  • 1 package Puff pastry
  • 1 Sweet onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tsp Fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the filling by melting butter in a skillet and sautéing the onions until golden brown, then add garlic and sauté for another minute.
  3. Add the beef and herbs, then season with salt and pepper until just browned.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  5. Cut the pastry into squares and fill with the beef mixture, folding corners to meet in the center.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  7. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the dipping sauce by heating beef broth and stirring in Worcestershire sauce.
  9. Serve warm with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

For a vegetarian variant, substitute beef with mushrooms or tofu.
