Description
A rich, buttery chocolate pie topped with a luscious coconut and pecan mixture that brings together family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chilled butter
- 4 oz German chocolate
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup toasted pecans
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- ½ cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in chilled butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the mixture into a pie dish and prick the bottom with a fork. Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool.
- Melt German chocolate with butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and evaporated milk until smooth. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture.
- Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust. Bake for 30-35 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
- In a separate bowl, combine toasted pecans, coconut, and brown sugar. Once the pie has cooled for 10-15 minutes, spread the coconut mixture over the top.
- Return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes until the topping is golden brown. Let cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or chilled with whipped cream. Try adding a splash of vanilla extract for deeper chocolate flavor.
