- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Your choice of jam (raspberry, strawberry, or apricot)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing gently until the dough forms.
- Chill the dough for about 30 minutes to help maintain its shape while baking.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thick and cut out shapes with heart-shaped cookie cutters.
- Create a well in the center of half the hearts using your thumb or a small round cutter.
- Spoon a small amount of jam into each indentation.
- Top with another heart-shaped cut-out and gently press the edges to seal.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, then allow to cool on a wire rack.
Notes
Ensure that the butter is at room temperature for best results. Experiment with different jam flavors for unique twists.
