Ingredients

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Your choice of jam (raspberry, strawberry, or apricot)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing gently until the dough forms.
  5. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes to help maintain its shape while baking.
  6. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thick and cut out shapes with heart-shaped cookie cutters.
  7. Create a well in the center of half the hearts using your thumb or a small round cutter.
  8. Spoon a small amount of jam into each indentation.
  9. Top with another heart-shaped cut-out and gently press the edges to seal.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, then allow to cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Ensure that the butter is at room temperature for best results. Experiment with different jam flavors for unique twists.
