Description
Delicious heart-shaped donuts, perfect for creating sweet memories on any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or 1 cup all-purpose and 1 cup whole wheat)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 1/4 cup melted butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (or almond extract)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together your eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry until just combined.
- Shape the donuts: Roll the dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the donuts and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or pot, heat your oil until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the donuts: Carefully drop your shaped donuts into the heated oil. Fry them for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Cool and glaze: Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a cooling rack. Once cooled slightly, dip them in your favorite glaze and adorn them with sprinkles.
Notes
Monitor oil temperature closely to avoid burning. Allow donuts to rest before shaping for better texture.
