- 4 large Eggs
- 2 cups Heavy cream
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- Zest and juice of 1 Orange
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp Ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp Ground cloves
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup Butter (for greasing and crust)
- 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare your baking dish: Grease a 9×9-inch pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix together melted butter, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add in flour until combined, and press firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until golden.
- Whisk together eggs and sugar until frothy. Gradually add heavy cream, orange juice, and zest, followed by spices and vanilla, blending until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture over the baked crust and gently tap the pan to release air bubbles.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool completely in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Slice into squares and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed chilled; serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
