Description
A rich and creamy Indian classic made with tender chicken in a buttery tomato sauce, perfect for gathering family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 4 tbsp real butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 2 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp garam masala
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: Mix chicken with yogurt, garlic, ginger, and spices. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, ideally overnight.
- Sauté the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and brown on all sides.
- Make the Sauce: Remove the chicken and add butter to the same pan. Add more garlic and ginger, followed by crushed tomatoes. Simmer for a few minutes.
- Combine and Simmer: Return the chicken to the skillet, add heavy cream, and adjust consistency with a splash of water. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Garnish and Serve: Finish with fresh cilantro. Serve with steamed basmati rice or warm naan.
Notes
For a lower-calorie option, use coconut milk instead of heavy cream. Marinating the chicken is essential for tenderness and flavor.
