  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Food coloring (red, green, or mix)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work area with a clean surface or marble slab.
  2. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat and stir until dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in peppermint extract and food coloring.
  5. Cool slightly for about 5-10 minutes until warm but safe to handle.
  6. Knead the mixture on your prepared surface, greasing hands with butter to avoid sticking.
  7. Cut into sticks using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
  9. Let cool completely before serving or packaging.
