Description
Delight in the magic of baking with these soft, pillowy donuts inspired by the world of Harry Potter, featuring hints of vanilla and nutmeg, and a sugary glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (can substitute with gluten-free blend)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar for richer flavor)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 large eggs (or flax eggs for vegan)
- 1 cup milk (or non-dairy milk)
- 1/2 cup butter, melted (or coconut oil for vegan)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or almond extract)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, and stir gently until just combined.
- Grease your donut pan and fill each cavity about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and springy.
- After baking, cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little milk, then drizzle or dip the cooled donuts.
Notes
Let the donuts cool slightly before glazing to avoid melting the sugar glaze.
