Description

A delightful dump cake that combines ripe bananas, chocolate chips, and crushed pineapple for a twist on the classic banana split.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (15.25 oz) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Maraschino cherries for topping
  • Whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  3. Layer sliced bananas evenly across the bottom of the dish.
  4. Pour crushed pineapple (with juice) over the bananas, then add chopped nuts if using.
  5. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the fruit layers.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter generously over the cake mix.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips across the top.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden and bubbling.
  9. Serve slightly cooled with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry on top.

Notes

For variations, substitute yellow cake mix with gluten-free options or use white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet chocolate. Don’t omit the juice from the pineapple for added moisture.
