Description

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pan.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar: Beat the unsalted butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time and then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just mixed.
  6. Transfer the batter to your greased pan and tap gently to release air bubbles.
  7. Bake for about 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  8. Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes before flipping it onto a wire rack.
  9. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter, then adding confectioners’ sugar until smooth.
  10. Frost the cooled cake, reserving some frosting for the inside surprise.
