Description
A nostalgic recipe for cookies that are buttery, sweet, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, beating until just combined.
- Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick, cut into desired shapes, and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Measure flour accurately to avoid dry cookies. Chilling the dough is essential for preventing spreading.
