- 12 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (preferably dark)
- Crackers (your favorite buttery variety)
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or black pepper
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the bacon by cutting strips in half and laying them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Combine brown sugar, grated Parmesan, and spices in a mixing bowl.
- Coat the bacon strips with the sugar mixture, ensuring each piece is evenly covered.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and caramelized.
- Cool bacon on the baking sheet for a few minutes before placing atop the crackers.
- Top each cracker with a piece of bacon and optionally sprinkle with extra Parmesan.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to ensure the bacon crisps up nicely. Allow the bacon to cool to enhance its crunch.
