Description
A delightful dessert that layers creamy cheesecake and crunchy pecans, reminiscent of traditional pecan pie.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipped cream
- 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the room-temperature cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add the sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and fluffy.
- Whip the cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until you have a beautifully light mixture.
- Toast the pecans: In a skillet over medium heat, toast the pecans for about 5-7 minutes until they’re fragrant. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- Build the trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual cups, start layering. Begin with a layer of the cream cheese mixture, followed by a drizzle of caramel, then a layer of toasted pecans. Repeat until you fill the dish, finishing with a generous layer of whipped cream on top and a sprinkle of pecans for garnish.
- Chill: Allow the trifle to chill in the refrigerator for at least 120 minutes before serving. This step lets the flavors meld beautifully!
Notes
For a lighter version, consider using Greek yogurt or lower-fat cream cheese. Serve in glasses for an elegant presentation.
