  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Crushed candy canes or peppermint candies for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a clean, dry bowl, add your egg whites and start beating them at low speed until frothy.
  4. Gradually increase to medium speed, add cream of tartar, and continue whipping.
  5. Add granulated sugar one tablespoon at a time until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold in peppermint extract.
  7. Pipe or spoon meringue onto the baking sheet in small rounds.
  8. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top before baking.
  9. Bake for about 90 minutes until dry and easily peel away from parchment.
  10. Turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside.
  11. Transfer to a jar or serve immediately.

Notes

Use room-temperature egg whites for better volume. Ensure mixing bowl and beaters are grease-free.
