- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract

- Crushed candy canes or peppermint candies for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry bowl, add your egg whites and start beating them at low speed until frothy.
- Gradually increase to medium speed, add cream of tartar, and continue whipping.
- Add granulated sugar one tablespoon at a time until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in peppermint extract.
- Pipe or spoon meringue onto the baking sheet in small rounds.
- Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top before baking.
- Bake for about 90 minutes until dry and easily peel away from parchment.
- Turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside.
- Transfer to a jar or serve immediately.
Notes
Use room-temperature egg whites for better volume. Ensure mixing bowl and beaters are grease-free.
