Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Prepare the wet ingredients: In another bowl, combine sugar and vegetable oil, then add eggs, buttermilk, red food coloring, and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
  4. Combine the dry mixture with the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Form the cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll into balls, then coat in powdered sugar.
