Description

Delightful buttery cookies with vibrant red and green swirls perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Red and green food coloring

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the egg and extracts until combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour and baking powder, stirring just until incorporated.
  4. Divide the dough in half and add red and green food coloring to each portion.
  5. Roll each colored dough into logs, wrap in parchment paper, and chill for at least an hour.
  6. Slice the chilled logs into rounds and place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake at 350°F until edges are lightly golden, about 10-12 minutes.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill dough properly to prevent cookies from spreading too much in the oven. Consider using a bench scraper when rolling the dough to keep edges neat.
