- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder (Dutch-processed)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk or yogurt
- 1 cup dark chocolate, melted
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter-sugar-egg mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Melt the dark and semi-sweet chocolate, then allow it to cool before folding it into the batter.
- Gently stir in the white chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Let cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
