Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a muffin or cupcake tin with paper liners.
  3. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
  4. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, alternating with milk.
  7. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cupcakes before frosting.
  10. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter, then gradually adding powdered sugar and food coloring.
  11. Frost the cooled cupcakes and sprinkle with heart-shaped decorations.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute the butter with coconut oil and use dairy-free milk. Feel free to customize the frosting with different flavors or colors.
