Description
A comforting and nostalgic dessert that combines rich, buttery caramel with velvety vanilla cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Caramel: In a heavy-bottomed skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the granulated sugar, stirring continuously until it dissolves and turns a lovely amber color, about 5-7 minutes.
- Incorporate Cream: Remove the skillet from heat and slowly whisk in the heavy cream, being cautious as the mixture will bubble vigorously. Return to low heat and simmer for another 2-3 minutes until it thickens. Stir in a pinch of sea salt.
- Make the Vanilla Cream: In a separate bowl, whip together the vanilla extract and the remaining heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Assemble: In dessert cups or jars, spoon a layer of the creamy filling first, followed by a generous topping of caramel. Reserve some caramel for drizzling when serving.
- Chill and Serve: Allow your creations to chill in the fridge for at least an hour, then drizzle with more caramel and a sprinkle of sea salt for that perfect finish.
- Garnish: Fresh berries or a sprig of mint can add a gorgeous touch.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Drizzling over pancakes or ice cream adds a delightful twist.
